Product #: NXPERM
Norcros Permalayer Anti Crack Underlay is an anti-crack underlay, designed for bridging cracks up to 3mm wide, without affecting the tiled finish. Norcros Permalayer is ideal for use over timber and green and cured concrete slabs and screeds. Used correctly Permalayer removes the need for costly floor build-ups such as plywood overlays. The layer also protects the tiled finish from the detrimental effects of subfloor movement; it is therefore ideal for use in conjunction with underfloor heating systems and tiling over newly laid green concrete/screed substrates (which are susceptible to shrinkage). Permalayer also creates a solid bed, eliminating the problems associated with point loading
Key Features
- Anti crack underlay for tiles
- Enables cracks up to 3mm wide to be bridged without affecting the tiled finish
- Creates a flat solid bed on which to tile
- Impact resistant
- Eliminates problems associated with point loading
- Enables the substrate beneath to move laterally, protecting the tiled finish from the detrimental effects of subfloor movement
- Thin lay – 1.8mm
- Quick and easy to install - cuts with a knife
- Removes the need for costly floor build-ups i.e. plywood overlay
- Allows for a quick tile installation on new concrete / cement screeds (min. 48 hours) without damage to the tiles caused by the usual drying shrinkage of the new substrate
- Suitable for use on wood, green and cured concrete slabs and screed
- Suitable for use with underfloor heating applications
Instructions
Surface Preparation- Ensure all new substrates are fully dry – new concrete/cement must be a minimum of 48 hours old
- Brush the surface to remove all traces of dirt, dust and debris
- Prime the substrate
- Concrete / Cement: Prime with Norcros Prime Bond diluted 1:4 with water
- WBP or Marine Grade Plywood / Tongue and Groove Flooboards: Prime with neat Norcros Prime Bond
Application
- Cut the Permalayer to fit the room
- Apply Norcros Rapid Porcelain Tile adhesive to the substrate using a suitable knotched trowel
- Lay the Permalayer onto the adhesive bed and roll flat until the adhesive appears through the surface
- Allow the adhesive to dry (Norcros Rapid Porcelain Tile adhesive has a 3 hours setting time)
- Apply a layer of Norcros Rapid Porcelain Tile adhesive to the Permalayer and lay the tiles into the adhesive bed as normal (joints between the tiles must be a minimum of 3mm wide)
- Allow the adhesive to dry prior to grouting
