Go Urban with Concrete Effect Tiles

While some people prefer a warm and rustic look, others love the urban appeal of hard surfaces like concrete and cement. This industrial warehouse-inspired look is becoming increasingly popular in the home, particularly in open plan living spaces. Adding a new concrete or cement floor to an existing room is not a small job, but using a concrete effect tile is a quick and easy way to get the look for less. It’s also a much quicker and less messy way to create this look, causing much less disruption to your home than concrete.

Thanks to their realistic appearance, hard-wearing material and low maintenance nature, cement effect porcelain tiles are quickly becoming one of the top tile trends of 2016. A tiled surface is perfect for high traffic areas like kitchens, dining rooms and living areas, and these tiles are often large format allowing you to mimic the seamless style of concrete flooring. They are also ideally suited for use with underfloor heating systems, adding a touch of luxury to your new floors.

Central tiles are large format, measuring 750x750mm, and available in dusky Moon, Sand and Grey colours. Their matt finish and slight patterned surface give them a cool and urban look – perfect for large living spaces. Panache Grey tiles are slightly smaller at 600x600mm, but they also have the subtle colour variation that gives them a realistic polished concrete look.

Our Traffic has no colour variation in the tiles, giving a clean and modern look to floors. These are available in 600x600mm or 600x300mm, depending on the overall look you want to achieve.

If you want to create something a bit different in your home but still want to incorporate a concrete-inspired look, try our Scone range. The tiles are available in light grey, dark grey and beige, with a coordinating patterned decor tile available in each colour. These decor tiles have a printed patchwork effect, and can be used on walls or floors – or both.

Want to extend your concrete effect floor out on to your patio or balcony? Try the stunning Valverdi Portland matching indoor and outdoor porcelain tiles. These tiles are available in two thicknesses – 10mm for indoors and 20mm for outside, allowing you to create a seamless link between your living spaces.

I love the finished look of this kind of modern Urban! i just want to ask: we want to use this technique over Kerdi board walls of the shower we’re building in our school bus conversion. Will this technique & product withstand vibrations in a motor home? Thanks
