As kitchen floors are often subject to high traffic, it's a good idea to choose hardwearing tiles that will stand the test of time. Porcelain tiles are extremely tough and easy to keep clean, making them the perfect choice for kitchen floors. The porcelain range is one of our best selling kitchen floor tiles, available in both a polished or matt finish.

Don't forget to think about grout colour when choosing your kitchen floor tiles - a darker colour will be less likely to stain or discolour over time, while light coloured grout will require more frequent cleaning. Using larger tiles will mean less grout joints, which often make them a popular choice in kitchens, large format tiles can make a space feel larger too.

You use can use the Valverdi Indoor Out range of matching 10mm indoor and 20mm outdoor tiles to create a beautiful flow from indoors to outside, perfect for connecting your kitchen with the patio or terrace. Expanding your living area outdoors with Valverdi works particularly well in the kitchen, as meals can be prepared inside, then bought outside to enjoy in the Summer months. With a continued tile design the two spaces feel like one coherent area.

Whether you are looking for something simple to create a calm cooking space, or a bold and bright colour scheme, we have a great range of kitchen wall tiles to choose from. Create a modern industrial look with metro tiles and contrasting grout, or go for something more rustic like encaustic tiles or stone effect tiles. If you're after retro, our Metro tile ranges are perfect for creating traditional country kitchen looks too!

When picking kitchen wall tiles it's important to understand the space you're working with. If you're trying to make a kitchen feel larger, use gloss tiles and tile diagonally if possible as this draws your eyes to the room's extremities. You'll want to balance the room's light too, keeping a light an airy feel to your space. However, lighter tiles show dirt and kitchen spills easier, so bare that in mind when making a colour choice for your kitchen.

The kitchen is the heart of your home and often a busy space - neutral colours can work well here to exude calmness and help relax a busy atmosphere. Alternatively, you could use neutral colours to accent and contrast a feature wall with something bold or different colour palette.

Tiles are the perfect choice for splashbacks as they are hardwearing and easy to keep clean. We have a great range of tiles to suit every style - from metro brick tiles to simple white tiles. Why not try something different like stone effect tiles or patterned decor tiles? Or use glass kitchen tiles for a high-shine splashback?

We often see our mosaic tiles being used for splashbacks, but did you know that large format tiles can work just as well? Larger tiles have less grouting joints which in turn makes them easier to clean, perfect for splashbacks.

You could even use the same tiles that you've incorporated in the rest of your design - just tile vertically rather than horizontally. This way you add definition to the space and set it aside as a splashback area - Metro tiles work well for this.

Using glass mosaic tiles in your kitchen is a great choice. Neutral coloured glass kitchen tiles will add a simple look to your splashback, while glittering glass mosaics will create a glamorous feel. If you want to add a splash of colour to your kitchen, use bright glass tiles with contrasting grout.

Glass mosaics are often used as splashback tiles as they vary from the rest of the tiles used in your design and are easy to clean. Some of our ranges are bold enough that you could even make this a feature wall or kitchen focal point.

Our glass mosaic tiles are at home in both contemporary and traditional kitchens and work well when used to contrast stone effect tiles. Made from small glass tiles, most of our mosaic ranges come on sheets for a quick and seamless install, saving you time and money.

Tiles are often a key part of decorating a kitchen as they allow you to be creative whilst retaining all the practicality that tiling provides. But it can be hard to know where to start with walls, floors and splashbacks all being contenders here. With such a large choice of styles it can be hard to know where to begin sometimes. Luckily, we're tile experts at The London Tile Company and we've got some handy tips to help.

The standard white ceramic wall tiles that you see everywhere can work exceptionally well when used to accent something of contrast - maybe a different coloured tile, or even bright and bold feature wall. You can also add further interest to elements by using tiles of a different shape, or laying them out in a different pattern to break up the monotony.

You can also be adventurous with statement tiles and statement flooring - mosaic and victorian tiles work really well for this. By their very nature they create a variety of patterns and eye catching designs, with repetitive motifs and bold colours to draw the eye - perfect for a contemporary kitchen. Geometric designs are enjoying something of a revival too, so look into encaustic tiles for statement areas.

Use wood effect tiles to add a splash of personality and rustic charms to your kitchen, complete with textured surfaces and wood graining, they look just like the real thing. Alternatively, you could go for stone effect tiles, perfect for farmhouse-style or modern kitchens. Add some luxury with marble effect tiles that won't break the bank and looks almost identical to the real thing. Plus, all our porcelain tiles are great to use with underfloor heating systems!
